We were scheduled to leave the RV Park today, but earlier in the week we could see we were not going to be able to do all we wanted. So we extended our stay until the RV Park closed for the season, Sunday, September 27.
Today we travel to the NE Entrance. This is the last of the five entrances. We will have done them all.
Each of them has had such different terrain and unique sites.
As you can see the Bison are on the move. This morning they are crossing the driveway out of the RV Park. Oh, we just had to sit and wait while the herd took their dear old time. They had no agenda. Well maybe they did. Make us stop.
Coming down from Dunraven Pass you begin to get a look at the Lamar Valley
The next several pictures are of the Lamar Valley leading East out of the Park. Hard to imagine or get on the camera. A large valley floor with the Lamar river flowing through it. This seems to be a desired place to fish. At least there were a lot of folks beating the water with fly poles.
Then the valley begins to narrow and we started climbing into the mountains.
And there it is the final trophy. We have finally completed our task. We drove out of the Park to Cooke, Wy. a wide spot in the road.
Heading back we found this nice spot to have lunch. Perfect for a perfect day.
On the way up to Dunraven Pass is Tower Falls. Just a small stream, but very scenic.
Now lest we forget. This is the famous Fishing Bridge over the Yellowstone River as it comes out of the Lake. Prior to the 70's you could fish from the bridge. Pictures show people elbow to elbow on both sides of the bridge fishing. In the late 70's they stopped the fishing because this area is also the spawning grounds.
Well I was on this trip too. But somebody has to take the pictures.

The fire continues to grow. The highway from Bridge Bay to Grant Village is closed most of the day. A new weather pattern set up by the fire causes very high winds and begins blowing the smoke into our area.
After talking to a Ranger about the possibilities of getting to West Yellowstone through the Park (yes maybe if the fire "goes to bed" at night like is has been).
We went back to the trailer and got ready to move so we could get an early start and also be ready if they decided to evacuate the area.

Last night was a horrible night. The smoke settled in and even with all the windows and vents closed we got a lot of smoke inside. Ugh!!!
We were on the road at 7:30 am. Looks good. Well that is until we get to Fishing Bridge. Yes the Bison herd was crossing the bridge. We waited, they took their time. Fortunately a Park employee came through and kind of nudged them to get going.
The drive to Grant Village was like driving through Central California valley fog (for you who know that area). We had to drive pretty slow, but made it. From Grant Village to Old Faithful all was good.
One last stop at Old Faith Inn to have breakfast in the dining room.
Now what could be a better way to leave Yellowstone than to have this herd of Elk along the road. Of course we stopped with the other 100 people. We had not had this good a view this close.
Well that ends our ten wonderful days inside Yellowstone Park.
We had a great time, but wished we had a few more days. There is just so much to see.
NOTE: We read in a local paper that the fire burnt more than 930o acres. On Sunday they had begun preparing sprinklers and fire equipment along with helicopters dumping water to protect the Lake Village area. And the fire had burned up to the highway, thus closing it permanently.
Maybe just maybe another visit not far in the future.

From here we are going to Ennis, Mt for, how about a week. Mainly to rest and hangout. Oh course we will tour the area, check out the town to see what we can dig up.
