The Yellowstone Adventure Continues

Off to Cody, Wy!!! This trip will satisfy two of the things we wanted to do while here. Go to Cody and Enter Yellowstone from all five entrances. Well this will be #4. Well we still have the NE entrance to do, but we are getting there.

 Quite different rock formations than have thus far seen. 

 Well this is supposed to be Trail Town, the original plot for Cody. Actually most of the buildings have been brought in from other areas to preserve them. So it's not what the town really looked like.

 Of course you can't visit Cody without touring the Buffalo Bill Historical Center.

There is a Buffalo Bill wing, An Indian wing and a gun wing.

 Guns, guns and more guns. The main floor has about 1500 guns on display. And we saw them all. Each manufacturer has a space of their own. Sad to say a lot of them no longer exist. There is about anything you in a gun you could think of.

But the basement contains another 1200 guns on display. We were saved this day. The basement was closed.

One of the museum curators told us the museum has over 7500 guns.

 The actual home Buffalo Bill grew up in as a boy. It actually had lath and plaster walls.

 Kitty catching up on a little history. This house was actually a replica of what was constructed for the indians on the reservations. The idea was to isolate the indians from each other, remove them from their "Indian ways" and teach them white man's lifestyle. Uh, don't think that worked out so well.

September 24

The reason there is no September 23 if you are counting. The trip to Cody did me in, I needed a rest.

Lake Lodge Hotel in the Lake Village area. We had missed this a couple of days ago. It is kind of hidden in the back of the village. What a surprise.

Well we liked it. Especially sitting in front of the fireplace. Ah!! so good.

I had promised Kitty lunch at Canyon Village, 16 miles up the road. On the way we had to catch some of the sights we had driven by before. This is LeHardys Rapids. Supposed to be a great place to watch the trout go upstream to the lake in  the spring.

After eating lunch at the 50's diner in Canyon Village we went to the Yellowstone visitor center. They had a posting on the window that a fire near Bridge Bay had closed the road. Whoa! that is about a 2 miles from the RV Park. Maybe we should get back to the trailer and find our what is going on.

Fishing Bridge RV Park is for hard sided RV's only. Not a bad location and a reasonably nice park with full hookups.
